Dalglish hails squad character
After two wins and a draw the Reds came unstuck at Stoke last weekend in a game they dominated and created numerous chances but lost to a solitary Jon Walters penalty. Centre-back Daniel Agger noted the belief within the squad was "miles apart" from what it was 12 months ago under Roy Hodgson. Dalglish supported that view and stressed even losing at Stoke would not knock confidence. "There are lots of things that have been pleasing for everyone. The supporters, the staff, the players - everybody," the Scot said of his team's start to the season. "As we always say, if we stick together we are going to be a formidable unit. "That's the most important thing, for everybody to stick together. If we lose a game we have to stick together. "There is a disappointment which is good but no-one is walking around with a petty lip or feeling sorry for themselves. "They've trained well all week and I'm sure they will go into the game against Tottenham on Sunday in the right frame of mind and with the right attitude. "No-one's character at this club needs to be tested." Dalglish has always sought to keep a lid on expectations at Anfield having taken over with the club in the doldrums after a disastrous six months under Hodgson. The 60-year-old has produced a remarkable transformation in a short space of time and even he was happy to declare his satisfaction with the start to the new season. "I think the form and the performance have been very good," said the Liverpool manager. "The 45 minutes against Sunderland (an opening-day 1-1 draw) in the second half was probably the least effective we have been but it was by no means a poor performance. "We have been happy with the way the players have gone about their work and taken it into matches. "With a bit more luck we could have had full points but we have not and we will get on with what we have got. "It won't take away our beliefs and philosophies on how we want to play."
