Cristiano Ronaldo got Conor McGregor into Jennifer Lopez's birthday party
Everyone saw the photo that sparked the debate over whether who would win if Cristiano Ronaldo or Conor McGregor had a fight, but even better is the story behind the first meeting between the two stars.
Ronaldo and McGregor apparently met through John Kavanagh, who is McGregor's trainer. But as Kavanagh explains in a new interview with the Irish Independent, the events of that night sound like the perfect setup for a The Hangover-type movie plot.
According to Kavanagh, McGregor invited himself to accompany Ronaldo to Jennifer Lopez's birthday by sneakily pulling out, "Sure, I'll come along" when the party was mentioned.
It should be no surprise that Ronaldo is attending exclusive birthday parties for movie stars, but everything turned out well for McGregor. Lopez recognized the fighter and pulled him onto the dance floor and Ronaldo seemed to be enjoying hanging out with his new friends.
Inviting yourself to a party with Ronaldo isn't maybe the most polite thing to do, but if you're gonna do it, getting into an A-list celebrity's birthday bash might be the right time. Nice move, Conor.

She drags him to the dance floor and they start dancing and I'm like: "Oh, here we go, just another crazy story." Ronaldo is there. He comes over, tells me that he reads everything (I write) and follows me on Instagram. I'm thinking: "Wait until I tell my dad about this!"Interviewer: (Laughs)JK: He kept coming over, and then he would drift away, and then I'd be in another part (of the room) and he'd come over again. (Laughs.) And it got to the stage where Orlagh was like: "Here's this sports megastar harassing you!"I: He had you in a headlock.JK: Yeah, it was like a drunk party: "I'll tell you this." But it was very enjoyable.[/pullquote]
