Cristiano Ronaldo gave his Euro 2016 silver boot award to Nani
Cristiano Ronaldo's trophy cabinet is so full that he's now giving away awards. Don't get your hopes up, though, he's only sharing them with people who have earned them. The Portuguese star graciously gave his silver boot award from this month's Euro 2016 to his teammate, Nani.
With three goals and three assists in the tournament, Ronaldo came in second behind France's Antoine Griezmann, who had six goals. Nani also notched three goals (alongside Alvaro Morata, Gareth Bale, Dimitri Payet and Olivier Giroud, but Ronaldo's higher assist total saw him take home the silver boot.
CR7 did all he could to contribute to Portugal's triumph but the winger had to leave the final with an injury, making the already herculean task of overthrowing the hosts, France, all the more difficult. He affixed his captain's armband onto Nani's arm before leaving the pitch and watched from the sidelines on edge as his teammates delivered.
Nani responded to Ronaldo's gratitude in kind with a post on Instagram, writing, "More than a captain you're a champion! Thanks for the gift! Let's go Portugal we are the Champions!" It's a nice gesture from Ronaldo, who up until now had yet to put an international trophy in his case.
With the Euro 2016 under his belt, there's a good chance the Real Madrid icon could be clearing space for yet another accolade: his fourth Ballon d'Or.
