Coyle: I have board's backing

Since the start of the year, Bolton have lost 19 of their 28 Premier League games, with eight defeats from 10 this season and currently are in 19th position in the table. On Sunday the Trotters face Stoke who hammered Bolton 5-0 at Wembley in April's FA Cup semi-final. Wanderers are yet to pick up any points at home this season and Coyle knows that has to change quickly. Coyle said: "We've a fantastic club, an unbelievable owner. The chairman and I have a fantastic relationship. "Our supporters have been great too. But I totally understand, given what we've done, the expectation is we have to be better than where we are just now. "We have to improve. To do that we need the fans onside. I won't sit here and make excuses for myself or the group. We know we have to do better. "When you raise expectations you have to try and match up. We've not done that but we can do very quickly. "Football can change within one game. That's why I love it." Some fans believe that Bolton have never recovered from the thumping at Wembley. Coyle added: "It was a poor day. It wasn't nice. "But it was last season and we have to address what is happening this season. Our focus has to be on Sunday, nothing else. "These players don't need it as a motivational tool. "We've the chance to move out of the bottom three. If that can't motivate you, then something is sadly wrong."
