Christian Pulisic scores last-second equalizer vs. Manchester City

Christian Pulisic scored his first goal of the preseason on Thursday, and it was a dramatic one, too.

Borussia Dortmund's young American midfielder delivered the tying goal in the final seconds of stoppage time against Manchester City to send their International Champions Cup match into a penalty shootout.

City won the battle of the nerves, 7-6, after new Dortmund signing Mikel Merino saw his penalty saved by Angus Gunn. Earlier, Sergio Aguero had given Pep Guardiola's new side a 1-0 lead with a wonderfully worked team goal in the 79th minute.

Dortmund were on the brink of losing their second and final glorified friendly on their tour in China when in the 96th minute, Pulisic received a pass after a short corner and slipped his shot through a tree of defenders and past Gunn for the last-gasp equalizer:

It might be only the preseason, but a last-second goal is a last-second goal, and that's a nice feather in Pulisic's cap, especially considering the steep competition he faces for a spot in Thomas Tuchel's side. With Dortmund signing eight new players this summer -- six of them midfielders -- the U.S. international has his work cut out for him. This goal will help.

Dortmund won their first match in China, 4-1, against City's rivals Manchester United. Last season's Bundesliga runners-up will fly back to Europe on Saturday to resume their preseason with a one-week training camp in Switzerland before the start of the season.

Pulisic's Dortmund are set to face Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup on August 14 at the Signal Iduna Park.
