Chelsea loan news: Goals galore for loan army (VIDEO)

There were multiple goals scored by Chelsea players this weekend as the loan army took another step in Michael Emenalo’s plan to conquer the footballing world.

The scale of Chelsea’s loan army is such that minor footballing nations are fearing an invasion. However, the fact that 38 soldiers are in the field mean that a few will impress on a weekly basis. Three players hit the back of the net this weekend.

Kasey Palmer

We’ll start with lesser of the three efforts. Kasey Palmer scored the second goal of his Huddersfield career against QPR on Saturday. The midfielder creeped around the back post to nod home from close range.

This 14th minute effort gave the Terriers an early lead and one they would hang on to, eventually winning 2-1. The three points saw them cement their position at the top of the Championship with two points separating them from Norwich City.

Charlie Colkett

One division below, decorated youngster Charlie Colkett scored his first goal for Bristol Rovers and his first in senior football as well. A thunderous 86th minute strike secured a vital point for Rovers after a difficult start to the season.

The teams would see out the last few minutes without drawing blood, the contest ending in a 1-1 stalemate. Colkett will hope that this contribution enables him to feature more heavily in manager Owen Coyle’s plans moving forward.

Lewis Baker

As one of the recruits tasked with infiltrating the foreign leagues, Lewis Baker did his bit abroad for the Chelsea cause. The midfielder pulled out a wonderful effort to confirm Vitesse’s victory over Go Ahead Eagles.

The 78th minute strike secured a 2-0 win for Vitesse as they look to break free of their mixed start to the campaign. Baker has been a key player for the Dutch club so far and moments like this will only increase his stock.

Three goals from Chelsea’s loan players is a decent return. It may just represent an 8% strike-rate, but the fact that key prospects are taking their opportunities and excelling is a positive. This trio will still be optimistic about their chances of becoming a part of the Chelsea first-team and putting in decent performances is all they can do to further their case.

Who out of Palmer, Colkett and Baker are you most excited about? Will any of them realise their Stamford Bridge dreams? Let us know in the comments below!
