Charlie Davies resumes training with Sochaux

Charlie Davies is resuming training with his French club Sochaux.

The American forward, coming back from injuries sustained in an October 2009 car crash, spent 2010 on loan to Major League Soccer's D.C. United and scored 11 goals in 26 games, including 18 starts. The 25-year-old played less as the season wore on, and D.C. United said Dec. 1 that it decided against a permanent transfer. The loan expired Saturday.

Sochaux said in a statement on its website Thursday that Davies was to return to training on Sunday.

Davies had become a starter on the U.S. national team before the car accident, which nearly took his life.
