Chapecoense on locker room celebration: 'Let this be the last image of our warriors'
After more than 70 people were killed in a plane crash, Brazilian soccer team Chapecoense posted a video of what it hopes will be the lasting image of the players lost.
The team’s charter crashed Monday night outside the Colombian city of Medellin, where the team was set to play the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana on Wednesday. There were 81 people on board—72 passengers and nine crew members—and Colombian authorities said there were six survivors. Three survivors are players, two are crew members and one is a journalist traveling with the club.
On Tuesday morning, the club posted a video of the team celebrating in the locker room with the caption “Let this be the last image of our warriors.”

Chapecoense had enjoyed a meteoric rise through the ranks of Brazilian soccer in recent years. The team played in the country’s fourth division in 2009 but returned to the top tier in 2014 for the first time since 1979.
