Celtic close in on World Cup star
Cha, 29, revealed yesterday that he is flying in to Glasgow for a medical for the Parkhead club. The right-back has a year left on his contract at Freiburg and is available for around £500,000. He was quoted as saying: "On Tuesday I fly to Glasgow to undergo a medical check. "Then I will take two weeks vacation in South Korea." If talks are successful, the former Bayer Leverkusen player will join up at Parkhead with international team Ki Sung-yueng as Hoops manager Neil Lennon begins the refurbishment of his squad ahead of the new season. Former Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew is reportedly set to re-join from Aberdeen after Sheffield United pulled out of the race to sign him, while a deal for Lawrence could also be struck this week. Stoke rejected the Hoops' initial offer of around £1.5million but a bid of £2million would persuade the Potters to sell the Ireland winger, who has also revealed he wants to move to Parkhead. One player that Lennon looks set to miss out on, however, is Cardiff's Joe Ledley, who is expected to join Stoke later this week.
