Cameroon beat Mauritius in African Cup qualifier

Samuel Eto'o scored twice to give Cameroon a 3-1 victory over Mauritius on Saturday in its first qualifying match for the 2012 African Cup of Nations.

Eto'o, the Inter Milan striker winning his 100th cap, netted either side of a Mauritius equaliser at Anjalay stadium.

Eric Tchoupo Moting made it 3-1 from the penalty spot as new Cameroon coach Javier Clemente, the former Spain coach, enjoyed a winning start to his tenure with the Indomitable Lions.

The victory restored some pride for Cameroon after its disappointing performance at the World Cup in South Africa, where the Lions lost all three matches and went out in the first round.

Eto'o opened the scoring with a free-kick past Mauritian keeper Marie Jose Ivan.

The home side drew level when Jonathan Bru converted a penalty in the 45th minute.

But Eto'o pounced again to secure the points for Cameroon, diverting home a left-wing cutback from midfielder Henri Bedimo.
