Cabanas' wife says she has reached settlement

The wife of former Paraguay footballer Salvador Cabanas says she has reached a financial settlement with her husband's former club America of Mexico.

Cabanas survived being shot in the head almost a year ago in a Mexico City bar, but is not expected to return to playing football.

His wife Maria Lorgia Alonzo said Wednesday she had reached the settlement but said a confidentiality clause prevented her from disclosing terms. She had previously said the Mexico City club owed her husband $1.3 million in salary and other benefits.
