Busquets signs Barcelona contract extension

Spain World Cup winner Sergio Busquets has signed a contract extension that ties him to Barcelona until at least 2015.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder agreed to a two-year extension Thursday, with his buy-out clause jumping from ?80 million ($110 million) to ?150 million ($206 million).

Barcelona says the deal will automatically extend an extra year based on games played over the 2014-15 season.

Busquets says he is ''at the best club in the world and I just hope that the years to come will be like those I've had here so far.''

Busquets has flourished since coach Pep Guardiola brought him into the first team after taking charge in 2008.

The Catalan-born player started each of Spain's games on its way to World Cup victory last summer.
