Brighton v Bristol C preview

Brighton boss Gus Poyet is sweating on the fitness of Wayne Bridge ahead of Tuesday's Championship clash with Bristol City at the Amex Stadium.

The left-back has missed the Seagulls' last two fixtures with a calf problem and, despite returning to training, will not be rushed back into the team.

"Wayne is a strange situation because now we have a big issue with the pitches where we train as we are into the proper winter weather," Poyet told the club's official website.

"The medical staff are concerned because we then play on a surface at the Amex that is completely different to the training ground. That brings some problems, especially for the players with injuries, so it is not an easy situation with Bridgey."

Centre-back Adam El-Abd has recovered from a hamstring problem, so Spanish winger Vicente is the only definite absentee.

Bristol City boss Derek McInnes will run the rule over defender Matthew Bates, who has been struggling with a hamstring injury but could recover in time to feature against the Seagulls.

Liverpool loanee Danny Wilson could make his first start for the Robins since completing his short-term move from Liverpool last week.

The 20-year-old defender came on as an injury-time substitute in City's 3-1 win over Middlesbrough on Saturday and is vying for a place in the starting line-up as fellow defenders Stephen McManus, Lewin Nyatanga and Greg Cunningham are all still injured.

Jon Stead will miss out as he is still recovering from the groin injury which kept him out of Saturday's victory, while Cole Skuse and Jody Morris remain sidelined.
