Brazilian Renato banned by Chinese club
Brazilian midfielder Renato Adriano Jaco Morais has been fined and suspended for three matches by his Chinese club for being disrespectful to the team's coach and fans.
Guangzhou Hengda said Tuesday that Renato was punished because he did not shake hands with his coach or show his thanks to the fans after he was substituted in a 2-2 draw with Beijing Guo'an on Sunday.
It said $20,000 would be deducted from Rentao's salary and he would be fined another $46,000.
The team said Renato was also suspended for at least three matches.
Hengda brought Renato to China from Brazilian club Botafogo on a four-year deal worth $2.25 million.
