Corinthians defeated Santos 4-2 on Sunday to keep the league lead in the Brazilian football.

The victory lifted Corinthians to 13 points, two ahead of Ceara and four more than Fluminense. Six teams are level on eight points - Avai, Botafogo, Sao Paulo, Palmeiras, Santos and Cruzeiro.
In a traditional classic in Rio de Janeiro, Botafogo and Vasco da Gama drew 1-1 Ernani gave Vasco the lead and Argentine German Herrera equalized with a penalty.
