Palmeiras went top of the early Campeonato Brasileiro standings having edged Atletico Paranaense 1-0.

Botafogo enjoyed a 2-1 win of their own, away to Ceara, with goals in each half from Elkeson and Antonio Carlos.
Heber Araujjo and Henrique scored as Figueirense beat Atletico Goianiense 2-0.
