Bologna move out of drop zone

Relegation-threatened Bologna beat Genoa 1-0 in Serie A on Sunday in what could be coach Stefano Pioli's final match in charge.

Alessandro Diamanti scored the only goal of the game in the 58th minute with a scorching strike into the bottom right corner.

Bologna dominated and could have scored more had it not been for several great stops from Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin.

Reports before the match said Pioli would be replaced during the winter break no matter what the result. The Bologna fans showed their support for the coach and the players had a group huddle around him before kickoff.

Bologna moved provisionally a point clear of the relegation zone.
