Bocanegra set for Rennes return
Defender Carlos Bocanegra could return to Rennes' lineup for
Saturday's game at Paris Saint-Germain after recovering from an
adductor muscle injury.
The U.S. national team captain missed the 1-1 tie at Lorient
on April 10 and the 0-0 home draw against Nancy last weekend after
sustaining the minor injury in training.
The 30-year-old Californian resumed full training with the
rest of the squad and "should be back soon," Rennes spokesman Malo
Rousselin said Tuesday.
Bocanegra has scored once in 24 league appearances this
season, having started all 38 games last season, scoring once.
Bocanegra is set to play in his second World Cup, with the
U.S. drawn into a first-round group with England, Slovenia and
Algeria.
He scored his 12th international goal in a 2-1 defeat to the
Netherlands in Amsterdam last month and has made 77 international
appearances. He previously played for Major League Soccer's Chicago
Fire and England's Fulham.
