Boateng keen to focus on football

Boateng is out of contract in the summer and Phil Brown has intimated he is ready to open talks with the former Holland international over a new deal. However, the 34-year-old insists he wants to concentrate on helping the Tigers retain their Premier League status before discussing his own future. "If I'm honest, the contract is nowhere near an issue for me," he told the Hull Daily Mail. "The main thing on my mind is to keep my place in the team, perform well and try to help this team to stay up. Those are my only priorities. "It's a nice compliment from the gaffer and I take it on board, but we haven't achieved anything yet. "This is the best I've played here, but I can't take my foot off the gas. "I've said it many, many times but I've only ever wanted to contribute in a positive way. "I would like to go on holiday in the summer and think 'It was tough but we've made it'. "I want to be proud and say that for 14 consecutive seasons I have been in the Premier League. "If then the club wants to keep me here, and the fans want to see me here, we can sit around a table and talk about it. "That would be the easy part, the hardest part is winning games and that is my main focus."
