Bayern 'misunderstood' over Robben

Bayern Munich is blaming a ''misunderstanding'' for an outburst from Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk over the treatment of injury-plagued winger Arjen Robben.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told the club website Sunday that Van Marwijk ''clearly misunderstood something. Bayern did not criticize him nor the Dutch national team.''

Radio Netherlands says Van Marwijk hit out at the Bundesliga club for insinuations that Robben's long-standing groin problem was aggravated while training for the national team.

''I've had it with Bayern. As far as I'm concerned, we don't play them in May (for a friendly),'' Van Marwijk said Friday, after Netherlands' 1-0 win over Moldova.

Robben has been beset by back and groin problems this season.
