BAE expects Adebayor support
Adebayor completed his season-long loan move to White Hart Lane last month and looks set to be manager Harry Redknapp's first-choice striker after Peter Crouch left for Stoke on transfer deadline day. Adebayor spent three and a half years at Arsenal before leaving for an ill-fated spell at Manchester City. Some Tottenham fans have never hidden their dislike of the 27-year-old, and have chanted offensive songs - one of which anti-racism group Kick It Out condemned - at the striker whenever he faced the White Hart Lane club. Assou-Ekotto insists the Spurs faithful will bury their past dislike of the striker though and give him the backing he needs to score goals for the club. "I don't think there will be any trouble with the Spurs fans and Emmanuel," Assou-Ekotto told skysports.com. "The fans when they come to the stadium they come to watch football and give their best to the team and I am sure they will support Emmanuel. "For sure when he used to play for Arsenal the fans did not like him, but for us everyone will love him if he scores 25 goals this season. "Emmanuel is a great player and I believe he will be a great signing for Spurs this season." Adebayor was one of three major signings at Tottenham this summer, with Brad Friedel and Scott Parker also joining the club from Aston Villa and West Ham respectively. Parker has not had a chance to link up with his team-mates yet since completing his deadline day move due to international commitments with England. The 30-year-old, who came on as a substitute during England's 1-0 win over Wales on Tuesday night, is happy that the international break is over so he can meet his new team-mates. "I've got a new club to look forward to going to now, so I'm pretty pleased and looking forward to going in there," he said. Parker's impressive performances for the Hammers last season earned him the Football Writers' Association player of the year award. He faces tough competition for a place in the Tottenham midfield, but captain Michael Dawson thinks Parker will prove to be an excellent acquisition. "We're all delighted to see Scott Parker join the club, a great signing for us," Dawson told Tottenham's website. "Scott's a top-class player, a winner. I played with him for England at Wales last March and have played against him on many occasions. "His strengths are that he gets his foot in, tries to break up play and gets your team playing. "He gives everything every time he goes on the pitch. He's certainly a player you want on your team, rather than playing against you and I'm sure he'll be big signing for Tottenham."
