AZ Alkmaar drink to Amstel extension

Dutch club AZ Alkmaar have renewed their sponsorship contract with beer brand Amstel.

The new six-year deal runs until 2021 and sees the Heineken International-owned brand remain a strategic partner of the Eredivisie club.

Amstel has been a partner of the team since 2006 and its previous deal was due to expire this summer. Financial terms of the renewal are not available.

Under the partnership, Amstel operates a food and beverage outlet called the Sportcafé at AZ’s 17,000-seater AFAS Stadion, located in Alkmaar in the north of the Netherlands.

AZ Alkmaar are currently fourth in the Eredivisie table but some 19 points adrift of leaders PSV Eindhoven.
