Australia to play Canada in friendly at London

Australia will play Canada in a friendly at London's Craven Cottage, home of Premier League side Fulham, on Oct. 15.

Australia head coach Holger Osieck said Thursday ''it is important to play as many international matches as possible in the lead-up to the World Cup.''

The Australians, who qualified for the 2014 World Cup in June from the Asian Confederation, will be coming off a match against France in Paris on Oct. 11.

Australia was thrashed 6-0 by Brazil in Brasilia earlier this month.

Canada did not qualify for the World Cup and has begun a rebuilding program under new coach and former Real Madrid manager Benito Floro.

Australia has won its two most recent matches with Canada - during qualifying in 1993 for the 1994 World Cup.
