Aubameyang was suspended for partying before Champions League and got caught on Instagram

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was suspended by Borussia Dortmund and sat out of their 1-0 win over Sporting CP in Champions League following an unsanctioned trip to Italy on Monday.

How'd he get caught? Instagram.

Taking advantage of a day off from training on Monday, the Gabonese striker flew on a private jet to Italy in order to attend a birthday party. The problem? Dortmund's team rules state that a player must at least be in the country the night before training or a game, and PEA was 10 minutes late to training the next day.

Aubameyang may have even gotten away with it too, if it hadn't been for that meddling Instagram. According to Bild, it was his appearance in some tell-tale posts on the social media network that evidently tipped off the club that some funny business had gone down.

Aubameyang was initially included in the squad, and even had his jersey laid out in the locker room before the match, but was then excluded for what the club labeled "internal issues."

Said coach Thomas Tuchel, "It was very difficult to do without him. But it was that I had no choice. The decision was made yesterday [Tuesday] afternoon. In the next game, he will be back. But, internal reasons means internal. I do not account for speculation."

All's well that end's well though. Aubameyang escaped further punishment beyond the suspension, and Dortmund won their tie against Sporting, with his replacement, Adrian Ramos, scoring the only goal.

Maybe next time Aubameyang skips out of the country on the sneak tip, he'll make sure not to pose for pictures.
