Atletico spurn Spurs' Forlan bid

Spurs reportedly tabled a €15million (around £13million) transfer deadline day bid for the Uruguay ace on Monday in a late attempt to bring him to White Hart Lane. However, after a meeting between the Primera Liga club's directors, Atletico have spurned the Premier League outfit's offer. A source at the Spanish club said: "The offer is insufficient for the quality of our player." Uruguay international Forlan, 31, has been with Atletico since arriving at Vicente Calderon from Villarreal in 2007. Atletico's fierce local rivals Real Madrid had an offer of £13million rejected last week for the striker and instead opted to sign Emmanuel Adebayor on loan. Forlan has only notched eight goals so far this season, but impressed at the World Cup last summer, playing a key role in Uruguay's campaign. Tottenham have been linked with a number of strikers in this month's transfer window as they bid to strengthen their frontline. Forlan's Atletico team-mate Sergio Aguero was reportedly on manager Harry Redknapp's radar, but the forward penned a new deal with Los Colchoneros to end any speculation.
