All four teams from the British Isles at the Euros made the knockout stages

Euro 2016 has been good to the British Isles. Exceptionally and historically good.

England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland all qualified for the tournament and now all four are into the knockout stages. None of the teams exited in the group stage, and now they make up 25 percent of the remaining teams in France.

It's no surprise that England are through. They were expected to win their group, flush with some of the best young talent the country has had in ages, and while they did slip to second place, that's still good enough to put them through.

Wales are the team that nipped England to take first in Group B, something few predicted. Sure, they had Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey, but they managed to take down two solid teams in Slovakia and Russia, which few would have predicted.

Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland are through thanks to the forgiving nature of a 24-team tournament, which sees some third place teams advance. Both wouldn't have advanced in prior Euros, but you can't diminish Northern Ireland going through in their first major tournament since 1986, or Ireland beating Italy in the 85th minute of their final group stage match to book their place in the next round.

The final result is the British Isles taking over the Euros. The traditional powers, the lovable fans and the newcomers on the big stage again all shining bright has been one of the highlights of the tournament.

Of course, then there's Scotland. While the rest of the crew from the Isles party in France, they are back home and can only watch after finishing fourth in their qualifying group. Not only did they have to watch their counterparts go to the Euros, now they're watching them advance.

Poor Scotland.

But everywhere else, have a party. The British Isles is the place to be.
