Algeria penalty enough to beat UAE

Karim Ziani fired home a second half penalty as Algeria warmed up for the World Cup with a 1-0 victory over the United Arab Emirates.

The midfielder, who plays for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, scored the only goal in the 51st minute in an unimpressive performance six days ahead of the World Cup kickoff. The victory on Saturday came a week after Algeria's 3-0 loss to Ireland.

The Algerians, who qualified through the playoffs, face Slovenia, England and the United States in Group C.
