Aguirre to name WC roster June 1
Mexico coach Javier Aguirre says he will wait until June 1 to name
his 23-man squad for the World Cup, which begins with a match
against host South Africa in the tournament opener on June 11.
Mexico plans to open a training camp later this month for
players based in Mexico. Aguirre said Thursday a squad of 23
Mexico-based players would depart in mid May for a series of
matches in Europe.
He said Europe-based players would be added to that team with
final squad decisions made after that.
Aguirre had said earlier he planned to name the final squad
on April 10.
