Aberdeen gets late equalizer at St. Mirren in cup

Rory McArdle's stoppage-time goal Saturday kept Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup by securing a 1-1 draw at St. Mirren, and third-tier club Brechin held St. Johnstone 2-2 to clinch a quarterfinal replay.

St. Mirren was heading for the semifinals when Paul McGowan slotted home from close range in the 77th minute.

But McArdle leveled for Scottish Premier League rival Aberdeen by hooking into the net following Paul Hartley's free kick.

St. Johnstone trailed Brechin after Rory McAllister's penalty kick just before halftime.

Chris Millar leveled at the start of the second half and Danny Invincibile headed the SPL side into front.

But McAllister earned St. Mirren a replay by scoring his second from an acute angle in the 78th.
