A match was stopped because the referees had to swap shoes
There is a first time for everything ... like referees having to swap shoes mid-match.
That's what happened when Real Salt Lake met the Chicago Fire on Saturday. The linesman apparently forgot to wear his studs so as he was running up and down the sideline, he kept slipping. He needed shoes with a little more grip, like the shoes the fourth referee was wearing.
So in the 19th minute, the referee stopped play and, well ...

That's a real referee shoe delay in the middle of a real match. Because just when you think you've seen everything, soccer likes to hit you in the face and remind you that it can always be more ridiculous.
