2 arrested over hate tweets linked to EPL game
British police says two men have been arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred after allegedly anti-Semitic messages were posted on Twitter relating to a Premier League match.
The Metropolitan Police says the tweets after the Tottenham-West Ham London derby in October made reference to Adolf Hitler and gas chambers.
Tottenham has traditionally drawn a large fan base from the Jewish communities in London, and supporters have faced anti-Semitic abuse.
Police warned West Ham fans before the match they were clamping down on such abuse.
The unnamed men, aged 24 and 22, were arrested on Thursday and have been released on bail until January.
