(FORT LAUDERDALE, FL) ― FOX Sports Florida announced today that they will be featuring the Gainesville-Yulee game on FoxSportsFlorida.com via Prep Zone. Prep Zone is a revolutionary way of displaying high school football merging television, web and social media all in one place. This is the first game in Gainesville that FOX Sports Florida will feature on Prep Zone.  

On Thursday, Aug. 30, Prep Zone heads to Alachua County as host Gainesville takes on Yulee in the regular season opener for both teams.  The game will take place at Gainesville’s Citizens Field with pre-game coverage beginning at 6:50 P.M. The Purple Hurricanes went 10-3 in Class 6A last season, losing to Seffner Armwood 17-14 in the regional finals. Plenty of talent returns for Gainesville, led by 6-foot WR Chris Thompson, a Florida commit and speedy junior RB Tony James, a transfer from Gainesville Buchholz, who already has offers from UF, Ohio State, Miami and UCLA.

The visiting Hornets finished 8-4 in Class 4A last season, including a 42-41 win over Taylor County in the regional semifinals, the first state playoff victory in the school’s history. Senior RB Derrick Henry, a 6-foot-3, 240-pound bulldozer, has rushed for 7,820 yards and 99 touchdowns in his three seasons at Yulee. He backed away from a verbal commitment to Georgia this summer; Alabama, Tennessee, Florida State and Florida are among the programs showing high interest.

During the game, viewers will have access to a library of instant video highlights powered via Snappy TV technology that will allow fans to share clips with family and friends via Facebook and Twitter within seconds.
