Young Bucks Tracker: Nov. 12 edition
With two-thirds of the roster born after 1990, the Milwaukee Bucks are a young, growing team. Every Thursday for the rest of the season, FOX Sports Wisconsin will take a closer look at the players that are still in their first three NBA seasons, measuring, highlighting and evaluating their progress.
This is the first edition of the 2015-16 Young Bucks Tracker.
A glossary of the advanced statistics used for season totals:
PER -- Player Efficiency Rating: A measure of per-minute production standardized such that the league average is 15.
TS% -- True Shooting Percentage: A measure of shooting efficiency that takes into account 2-point field goals, 3-point field goals, and free throws.
USG% -- Usage Percentage: An estimate of the percentage of team plays used by a player while he was on the floor.
ORtg -- Offensive Rating: An estimate of points produced per 100 possessions.
DRtg -- Defensive Rating: An estimate of points allowed per 100 possessions.
VORP -- Value over Replacement Player: A box score estimate of the points per 100 TEAM possessions that a player contributed above a replacement-level (-2.0) player, translated to an average team and prorated to an 82-game season.
GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO (Age 20, third season)
Statistical season averages: 18.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 steals, 0.9 blocks, 34.5 minutes, 55.0 FG%, 35.3 3PT%.
Advanced stats, season: 18.8 PER, 63.1 percent TS%, 22.8 percent USG%, 110 ORtg, 107 DRtg, 0.1 VORP.
Notable: Antetokounmpo was expected to make a big jump this year and in the season's first nine games -- of which he played eight -- he has been in double-digit scoring in each, with four games of 20+ points. Antetokounmpo also worked on his shot over the summer and the early results are good.
MICHAEL CARTER-WILLIAMS (Age 24, third season)
Statistical season averages: 12.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 1.8 steals, 1.0 blocks, 31.3 minutes, 40.5 FG%, 27.3 3PT%.
Advanced stats, season: 16.2 PER, 51.5 percent TS%, 23.7 percent USG%, 98 ORtg, 106 DRtg, 0.0 VORP.
Notable: An injury has limited Carter-Williams to just four games and he hasn't played since Nov. 2.
TYLER ENNIS (Age 21, second season)
Statistical season averages: 5.2 points, 1.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.4 steals, 0.0 blocks, 16.2 minutes, 47.8 FG%, 66.7 3PT%.
Advanced stats, season: 8.6 PER, 54.4 percent TS%, 16.9 percent USG%, 96 ORtg, 114 DRtg, -0.1 VORP.
Notable: With Carter-Williams out, Ennis saw at least 15 minutes of court time in the last four games, with a high of 23:40 against Boston.
DAMIEN INGLIS (Age 20, first season)
Statistical season averages: 1.6 points, 1.6 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 0.4 steals, 0.0 blocks, 7.0 minutes, 25.0 FG%, 20.0 3PT%.
Advanced stats, season: 4.7 PER, 41.0 percent TS%, 16.7 percent USG%, 76 ORtg, 104 DRtg, 0.0 VORP.
Notable: Inglis just can't get in the rotation, with his most minutes coming in blowout losses to the Knicks and Celtics. He has four DNP-CDs and saw less than 4 minutes of action in three other games.
JOHNNY O'BRYANT (Age 22, second season)
Statistical season averages: 5.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.2 steals, 0.4 blocks, 19.9 minutes, 47.5 FG%, n/a 3PT%.
Advanced stats, season: 13.8 PER, 53.8 percent TS%, 12.9 percent USG%, 125 ORtg, 112 DRtg, 0.0 VORP.
Notable: O'Bryant, somewhat surprisingly, has been a spark for the Bucks this season. He's twice had 11 points in a game -- he had double figures just twice in 34 games last season -- and matched his career high with nine rebounds against Denver. He figures to remain a rotational player as long as he keeps providing energy to the lineup.
JABARI PARKER (Age 20, second season)
Statistical season averages: 6.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.5 steals, 0.0 blocks, 20.5 minutes, 48.0 FG%, n/a 3PT%.
Advanced stats, season: 10.8 PER, 47.2 percent TS%, 15.4 percent USG%, 98 ORtg, 111 DRtg, -0.1 VORP.
Notable: The Bucks are taking it slow with Parker, limiting his minutes and sitting him out against Denver. In his last time out against Boston, Parker posted eight points (tying his season high) and a season-high eight rebounds and two steals (his first two of 2015-16).
RASHAD VAUGHN (Age 19, first season)
Statistical season averages: 3.0 points, 0.7 rebounds, 0.0 assists, 0.0 steals, 0.2 blocks, 8.5 minutes, 43.8 FG%, 50.0 3PT%.
Advanced stats, season: 8.5 PER, 56.3 percent TS%, 17.1 percent USG%, 94 ORtg, 117 DRtg, -0.1 VORP.
Notable: The NBA's second-youngest player got his first start the other night in Denver, but still played only 9:59. After a 10-point outburst in the season opener, Vaughn has scored eight points. He's a work in progress.
