Woman dies after fall from Scottrade Center escalator

ST. LOUIS -- A woman fell to her death from a Scottrade Center escalator following the Blues' final preseason home game Thursday night, according to a statement from St. Louis Blues Chairman Tom Stillman sent out Friday afternoon.

The Post-Dispatch reported the victim as Melissa Miles, 34, of St. Louis. She died at St. Louis University hospital.

Stillman noted the Blues are working closely with the St. Louis Police Department to investigate the facts surrounding the fall. No further details have been made available at this time.

"Everyone with the St. Louis Blues -- our ownership, management, coaches, players, and staff -- extends our deepest and heartfelt sympathies to the woman's family and friends," Stillman's statement said. "We will keep them in our thoughts and prayers, and we ask all Blues fans to do the same."
