Wolves exercise options on Towns, Wiggins, LaVine, Jones

The Minnesota Timberwolves are keeping their young core intact next season.

The Wolves announced Sunday that they have exercised their third-year options on Tyus Jones and Karl-Anthony Towns, and their fourth-year options on Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine, extending their rookie contracts.

Towns, Wiggins and LaVine were key starters for the Wolves last season, while Jones was named the NBA Summer League MVP over the offseason after playing sparingly during his rookie season.

Towns averaged 18.3 points, 10.5 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game last season en route to the NBA Rookie of the Year award after being drafted with the No. 1 overall pick in last year's NBA Draft.

Wiggins, another former No. 1 pick, averaged 18.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and two assists last season, while LaVine averaged 14 points, 3.1 assists and 2.8 rebounds.
