Williams leads decathlon after 1st day at Texas Relays
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Stanford sophomore Harrison Williams won the 100 and 400 meters to lead the decathlon Wednesday after the first day at the 89th annual Texas Relays.
Williams ran a wind-aided 10.72 seconds in the 100 and a 47.26 in the 400. He had 4,036 points after five events.
Arkansas sophomore Taliyah Brooks leads the women's heptathlon with 3,613 points, slightly edging senior Razorbacks teammate Alex Gochenour. Arkansas athletes hold four of the top five spots.
Brooks won the 100 hurdles with a wind-aided 13.16 seconds. She followed that by winning the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 10 inches.
