Wild sign forward Sokolov to three-year, entry-level contract
The Minnesota Wild signed forward Dmitry Sokolov to a three-year, entry-level contract, the team announced Wednesday.
Selected in the seventh round (No. 196) by Minnesota in 2016, Sokolov split time in 2017-18 with Barrie and Sudbury after a midseason trade in the OHL. The 20-year-old tallied a career-high 96 points in 64 games while tying for the league lead in goals (50).
In 2016-17, Sokolov finished second in the OHL in goals (48), first in power-play goals (17) and tied for 10th in shots (268).
He was named our State of Hockey tracker's first star of the year in April.
