Wild recall Matt Dumba from AHL

Set to play a game near where he grew up, the Minnesota Wild recalled defenseman Matt Dumba from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League on Thursday.

Dumba, 20, has two goals and three assists in 23 games with Minnesota this season. The Wild play at Calgary on Thursday night night, where Dumba grew up after being born in Regina, Saskatchewan. Dumba also played junior hockey in nearby Red Deer.

Dumba, Minnesota's first-round draft pick at No. 7 overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, participated this week in the AHL all-star game. He has five goals and nine assists in 20 games with Iowa this season.

To make room for Dumba, the Wild reassigned Stu Bickel to Iowa.

According to the Minnesota Wild Twitter account, head coach Mike Yeo said defenseman Ryan Suter will play Thursday. Suter and forward Matt Cooke both returned to practice Thursday.
