Wild given 16/1 odds to win Stanley Cup in 2018

Vegas is betting on the Pittsburgh Penguins to win a third straight Stanley Cup.

Online oddsmaker Bovada released their odds for the 2018 season Monday, and the Minnesota Wild currently sit at 16/1, part of a logjam in the Central Division that includes the Nashville Predators and Chicago Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks are Vegas' preferred squad in the central at 12/1, while their hometown team -- the Vegas Golden Knights -- are currently the NHL's biggest longshot at 150/1.

Bovada may need to update their odds in short order.

The Golden Knights will fill out their roster next week via the NHL Expansion Draft, while top prospects Nolan Patrick and Nico Hischier will upend the conversation again just a few days later at the NHL Entry Draft.

The Wild stumbled in the first round of this year's Stanley Cup Playoffs, falling to the St. Louis Blues in five games thanks to a standout performance from goaltender Jake Allen.

However, Vegas doesn't expect much from the Blues next season, and gives St. Louis 28/1 odds of hoisting the cup.
