Whoops! Photo of Vikings’, Dolphins’ new uniforms leaked

The Minnesota Vikings' new uniforms were supposed to be revealed to the world during a Thursday night draft party at the Metrodome, but Paul Lukas' Uni Watch ended the suspense on its Twitter account Tuesday afternoon.

According to Uni Watch, a Jacksonville TV station mistakenly posted an embargoed photo of the Vikings' and Dolphins' new uniforms in conjunction with Tuesday's unveiling of the Jaguars' new uniforms.

The Vikings confirmed the photo is of the real uniforms later Tuesday and urged fans to still attend the draft party for the big reveal.

The Vikings had been leaking hyper-close-ups of the uniforms on their website for the past few weeks but weren't exactly giving away the store by posting shots of things like belt buckles from an inch away. The leaked picture Lukas tweeted reveals the major changes to be a matte finish on the helmets and traditional horizontal stripes on the jersey sleeves instead of the thick stripes that stretched down the sides of the uniforms in the past. Numerals on the jerseys have taken on a futuristic look and no longer have thick yellow bordering around the white or purple numbers.

It's tough to tell from the leaked picture, but black facemasks and black piping down the sides of the uniforms might also be part of the new look. Vikings fans likely will have to wait until Thursday to get to the bottom of those mysteries.
