Who better to know how to slide around a tag at the plate than a catcher?

In the second inning on Thursday against the Astros, Tribe catcher Yan Gomes attempted to score on base hit to right field by Roberto Perez. The throw was on line and Houston catcher Hank Conger had the ball and was blocking the plate with Gomes still several steps up the third base line.

Instead of trying to run over Conger, Gomers ran wide to the outside of the baseline and then cut back to the inside and slid catching the inside corner of the plate with his foot.

The move caught Conger off-balance, who didn't recover in time to get a tag on Gomes.

Gomes was called safe and celebrated with Michael Bourn who was on-deck for the Indians.
