WhatIfSports NFL Week 10 predictions: Cardinals defy odds

Each Tuesday, WhatIfSports.com's NFL simulation engine generates predictions and box scores for every NFL game for the coming week. Our highly sophisticated algorithms simulate every play of every game to produce each team's likelihood to win. Each matchup is simulated 501 times.

To account for injuries and roster moves announced late in the week, we will be re-simulating games on Thursdays through the season.

Note: Our predictions use the latest available team and player information, while NFL SimMatchup includes all players that were or will be available at any point during the 2015 season so that theoretical and "what if" scenarios can be simulated.

Week 9 in Review

The NFL simulation engine stayed hot, even with a few major upsets across the board. Our engine went 9-4 in straight-up predictions, and had the best week against the spread to date, going 8-2.

Nailed It: We projected the Thursday night game between Cincinnati and Cleveland to be ugly, and it absolutely was. Our average predicted score was Bengals 30, Browns 13. The actual final? 31-10, Bengals

Wide Right: It was hard to see the 49ers pulling off a win over the Falcons. Our engine predicted that the Falcons would win 83 percent of the time, but the 49ers beat the odds and squeaked out a 17-16 victory.

Week 10 Game to Watch

Patriots at Giants: The G-Men have a history of ruining perfection for the Patriots, but they'll have an uphill battle getting it done this year. Our NFL simulation engine has the Patriots winning on the road 79.2 percent of the time by an average score of 29-18. With the Giants desperately in need of a win, this should be a great one to watch.

Week 10 Upset Pick

Cardinals (+3) over Seahawks: Seattle is not a fun place to play, and the Seahawks need a win to stay in the hunt. Vegas may have the line set in Seattle's favor for those reasons, but our predictions disagree, as we have the Cardinals pulling off the road upset 62.4 percent of the time by an average score of 27-23.

Fantasy Radar

Fantasy Start -- Mike Evans, TB: Even though he's been a little hit or miss this season, our projections have Evans as the top fantasy receiver in Week 10 against a vulnerable Cowboys secondary. Evans is projected to lead all wideouts with 13.5 fantasy points.

Fantasy Add -- Kamar Aiken, BAL: If he was dropped in your league, it's time to go get him. Aiken takes over as the top receiver in Baltimore with Steve Smith out, and our projections have him recording WR1-type numbers against Jacksonville this week.

Fantasy Sit -- Julius Thomas, JAX: Despite a great matchup against Baltimore's shoddy secondary, our engine has Jacksonville's receivers doing more damage than Thomas, who is ranked 21st among all tight ends in projected points.
