What happens to an NFL kicker the day after he makes a big hit? The NFL hits him up for a 'random' drug test
By Sam Gardner, FOXSports.com After his team knocked off the Denver Broncos on Sunday night, Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee claimed that he broke Twitter when he lowered the boom on pint-sized Broncos return man Trindon Holliday. That may very well be true — it’s not often you see a return man get lit up by the guy who kicked it to him — but the monster hit also apparently caught the attention of the NFL’s drug testers, who paid the 6-foot-1, 233-pound McAfee a visit early Monday morning to collect a “random” sample:
Guys... Make one random tackle... And end up on a "Random" steroid test.. Must be my bod #UpperBodyOfAnAdolescent pic.twitter.com/s9B7LrS89Y — Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) October 21, 2013
McAfee doesn’t seem especially concerned that he’s going to become the first punter to be busted using PEDs, and it’s probably for good reason. But we’ll see how he feels later this week if the NFL decides to fine him for his helmet-to-helmet moment in the spotlight.
