Week 15 waiver wire targets are the ultimate crap shoot
When you think back to all the prep work ahead of your 2015 fantasy football draft, handcuffing and holding onto the right guys, drilling a waiver wire claim, and spending your FAAB budget wisely for 14 weeks, I think it’s safe to say needing to rely on the Week 15 waiver wire this much, this late in the season, sucks. It sucks a lot.
Below are my top waiver wire options with some production numbers and notes on the confounding running back committees owners will be analyzing into the wee hours of the morning.
If you own Andy Dalton ….
Ryan Fitzpatrick at Dallas – has averaged 32.6 fantasy points over last three games (also since he trimmed his fantastic beard) – has averaged 24.1 fantasy points in last three road games in which he finished – Cowboys defense has allowed 207 passing yards per game with 3 touchdowns to opposing QBs over last 3 games
Jay Cutler at Vikings – coming off 315 passing yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions against the Redskins (23.1 FP) – scored 21.5 FP against the Vikings in first meeting this season (211 pass / TD / 0 INT) – Cutler and Jeffery torched Minnesota in first meeting (10 for 116 w/ TD)
Tyrod Taylor at Redskins – as mentioned above, Redskins secondary coming off poor performance – has scored 20+ FP in six out of 11 starts this season – rushed for 53 yards last week (second-most in a game this season)
If you own Vincent Jackson or DeSean Jackson or want to stream …
Tyler Lockett vs. Browns – perhaps it’s paint by number waiver targeting – but Baldwin may see double coverage all game leaving Lockett and Kearse to enjoy softer coverage – plus, losing Rawls for the season and cutting DuJuan Harris opens the door for Russell Wilson to throw 40+ times against the Browns – Lockett is averaging 18.3 FPPG over past month
Michael Floyd at Eagles – shocked Floyd is still available in 45 percent of leagues, but the hamstring injury a few weeks back allowed some owners to add and stash – he’s a must-add and start against a Philly secondary which allows the second-most fantasy points to opposing receivers
Kamar Aiken vs. Chiefs – not a perfect scenario with Matt Schaub or Jimmy Clausen behind center, but the Chiefs pass defense allows its fair share of pass yards to opposing receivers and Aiken has averaged six receptions for nearly 70 yards with two scores over the past five games
Cecil Shorts vs. Colts – before the Patriots muted Shorts III to the tune of 2.9 FP in Week 14, the Texans receiver averaged 14.8 FPPG over the previous three games – the Colts pass defense just got torched by Blake Bortles and although T.J. Yates isn’t elite, he did pass for 229 yards with 2 TDs and no INTs against the Jets earlier this season – Shorts passed for a touchdown in that game, too!
If you own Tyler Eifert, Greg Olsen and are nervous …
Zach Miller at Vikings – the Bears new starting tight end actually ranked third in targets against the Redskins behind Alshon and Jeremy Langford with six, but he caught five passes for 85 yard with a touchdown – although the Vikings allow the 11th-fewest fantasy points to opposing TE, remember how much Cutler involves the position in the passing game – Miller is a contingency plan should Eifert or Olsen miss Week 15
Zach Ertz vs. Cardinals – he’s coming off a season best 98 receiving yards, but averaged just 33 receivng yards over his previous four games
