WATCH: Teemu Selanne congratulates Ovechkin on 500th goal

The NHL's 500 goal club welcomed another great No. 8 to its ranks.

On Monday, former Anaheim Ducks No. 8 Teemu Selanne congratulated Alexander Ovechkin on reaching the 500 goal mark. The Capitals' winger scored his 500th goal Sunday against the Ottawa Senators followed by his 501st for good measure.

 

Ovechkin joins Selanne as one of 43 players to score 500 or more goals in the NHL. Selanne's 500th came against the Colorado Avalanche back in 2006. He finished with 684 goals total for his career and has his No. 8 retired by the Ducks on year ago today.
