FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- On Saturday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m., FOX Sports Florida will be featuring the rematch between national title contenders St. Thomas Aquinas and Don Bosco Prep live on the network via Prep Zone, presented by Checkers and UHealth. Paul Kennedy will call the game, alongside color commentator Keith Jones, and Kavita Channe will be reporting from the sidelines at West Point.
FOX Sports Florida's broadcast will be carried in more than 50 million homes across the country through participating regional sports networks including: FOX Sports Arizona, FOX Sports South, FOX Sports Wisconsin, FOX Sports Ohio, FOX Sports Southwest Plus, Prime Ticket, FOX Sports San Diego, FOX College Sports and YES Network (on tape delay at 7:00 p.m.)
The visiting Raiders (1-0), ranked No. 1 in Florida and a consensus top 10 choice nationally, opened their season with a dominating 38-7 victory over defending Class 5A state champion American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.). Aquinas, which boasts 10 Division I commits and likely an additional 10 seniors who will eventually play at college football's highest level, have a bevy of offensive weapons, led by 5-foot-11, 205-pound running back Jordan Scarlett (Miami) and 6-foot-6, 200-pound wide receiver Devante Peete (Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State). Defensively, the Raiders have an all-star secondary with a trio of top performers in 6-foot-2, 185-pound Damon Arnette (South Carolina), 6-foot, 190-pound Rashard Causey (Florida Atlantic) and 6-foot, 190-pound Tyson Cisrow (Penn State, South Florida, West Virginia).
"As the Athletic Director at St. Thomas Aquinas, I feel this is a tremendous experience for students, athletes, our band, cheerleaders and administration with the game being played West Point," George Smith said. "Plus the chance to play Don Bosco again will be a great test for both schools."
The host Ironmen (1-0), ranked No. 1 in New Jersey and a consensus top 15 team nationally, finished a disappointing 8-4 in 2013, but opened last week in fine fashion, topping defending Pennsylvania state champion St. Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia) 35-7. Don Bosco is a defensive powerhouse led by a suffocating front line, headlined by a two-way standout, 6-foot-9, 305-pound Kevin Feder (Ohio State). The Ironmen also have a super back seven, led by 6-foot, 230-pound senior linebacker Zack Chakonis and 5-foot-9, 178-pound senior defensive back Davion Ellison (Syracuse). Offensively, Don Bosco has a dual-threat leader at quarterback in 6-foot, 180-pound senior Wes McCoy.
"It will be a memorable experience for all those involved in this unforgettable game," Don Bosco Prep Athletic Director Brian McAleer said. "Both institutions have a tremendous amount of respect for each other, and the student athletes involved will remember this game the rest of their lives. It is an honor for Don Bosco Prep to be playing at the oldest Military Academy in the United States."
"Since we launched Prep Zone, our goal has been to produce games featuring big time high school football programs competing in major league venues such as; Raymond James Stadium, Sun Life Stadium, and the Superdome," said Stephen Grecsek, President of OUR TEAM. "For these elite teams to be able to play at Michie Stadium and experience West Point, it will be a moment they will treasure for years to come. Thank you to FOX Sports Florida / Sun Sports, Checkers, UHealth and all of our sponsors for making this event possible."
