Wainwright impressive in second start
Two starts down and two thumbs up for Adam Wainwright.
The right-hander tossed three shutout innings against the New York Mets Tuesday in Port St. Lucie, allowing just one hit and a walk and striking out one.
Wainwright threw 40 pitches, 25 of which were strikes, and got two double plays to escape jams in the first and second innings.
In two starts this spring, Wainwright has thrown five shutout innings and allowed just one hit. Tuesday’s start was on three day’s rest due to an adjustment in the Cardinals schedule with Chris Carpenter still on the mend.
Wainwright is scheduled to start next on Sunday at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter.
