Virginia lacrosse in Final Four

Chris Bocklet scored three goals and set up two others to lead top-seeded Virginia past upset-minded Stony Brook 10-9 Sunday in the NCAA lacrosse quarterfinals.

The Cavaliers (16-1) move on to the Final Four and will face fifth-seeded Duke (14-4) Saturday in Baltimore.

It was Virginia's second game since senior midfielder George Huguely was charged in the death of Yeardley Love, a senior women's lacrosse player for Virginia. Love was found dead in her bedroom May 3. Love's teammates lost to North Carolina 17-7 on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the women's tournament.

Bocklet scored with 5:21 left on a shot from about 5 yards out on the left side that sailed into the far side of the net, giving the Cavaliers the lead for good at 9-8. Colin Briggs made it 10-8 with 3:45 left before Tom Compitello cut the Seawolves' deficit to one with 2:11 remaining.

Shamel Bratton also scored three times for Virginia.

Crowley and Kyle Belton scored twice for eighth-seeded Stony Brook (13-4), which had won nine straight and was making just its second NCAA tournament appearance.
