Villa Park QB Boyce wins Fox Sports High School Achievement Award
LOS ALAMITOS – Two-time Century League Championship quarterback Blair Boyce from Villa Park High School, will be presented with the first annual Fox Sports High School Achievement Award during the seventh annual Los Angeles Sports Awards, presented by AT&T U-verse, on March 15 at Club Nokia at L. A. Live.
The LA Sports Awards are presented by the Los Angeles Sports Council to celebrate the greatest moments of the year in sports in the Los Angeles/Orange County area.
This is the first year that the Los Angeles Sports Council has recognized a high school athlete as part of this awards ceremony.
Boyce is a very worthy selection to be that first representative. Besides leading the Spartans to back-to-back Century League titles Boyce led his team to the CIF-SS Southwest Division Semi-Finals in2011 and the Quarterfinals in 2010.
The Villa Park captain was named 2nd Team All-Century League in 2009 and first-team in 2010and 2011. He was also named the Century League Most Valuable Player this past season. Boyce broke 12School records on the way to being named the team's MVP in 2011, as well.
Besides being an outstanding athlete, Boyce excels in the classroom as well. He currently boasts a4.45 Overall GPA. He has been listed on the Principal's Honor Roll every year during his high school experience. He has been named to the National Honor Society four years running and also has a four-year streak as a Scholar-Athlete.
Boyce is a Senior Senate Member at Villa Park as well as Student Regional Ambassador of Servesurfer, a non-profit organization. He has served on the CIF Southern Section Student-Athlete Leadership Council since its inception three years ago and is also a CIF Southern Section Champion of Character Award recipient. Boyce will also be honored later this month as an Orange County Chapter National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete. He plans to continue his education at Cornell University next year.
