Vikings add Janocko, Rodriguez as assistants

The Vikings announced on Monday the addition of Andrew Janocko (juh-NO-coe) and Robert Rodriguez to the team's assistant coaching staff for the 2015 campaign. Janocko will serve as the quality control aide for the Vikings' offense and Rodriguez will be the assistant defensive line coach.

Janocko will work closely with head coach Mike Zimmer and offensive coordinator Norv Turner. Janocko enters his fifth season in the coaching ranks having served as a graduate assistant at Rutgers (2011), an offensive assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2012-13) and quarterbacks coach at Mercyhurst (2014).

Janocko played QB collegiately at Pittsburgh from 2007-10.

Rodriguez had spent the previous seven seasons coaching at his alma mater, the University of Texas at El Paso. Rodriguez returned to UTEP in 2008 after playing professionally for the Calgary Stampeders (2006-07). In 2010, Rodriguez was elevated from defensive assistant to linebackers coach, a position he held for two seasons. Rodriguez took over coaching nickelbacks and serving as the team's assistant special-teams coordinator in 2013.

As a player, Rodriguez led the Western Athletic Conference in tackles three seasons and was the 2004 Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
